My son is 12 years old and never stopped peeing in bed.

My son is 12 years old and never stopped peeing in bed. I've been trying to solve this problem for years. Several exams were requested where no abnormality was reported. So I went to the psychology department of Usp, where the use of alarm was indicated. He began to make the treatment excited, but after a while, he did not do the recommended one, which he started by waking up alone, turning the alarm off and on every time he wet the sheet. I confess that both I and my husband are no longer as understanding as we were at the beginning, we have no patience in dealing with the matter. We need help, today we are putting the clock to wake up so we can wake him up, since he pees several times during the night. I would like the appointment of a professional to help resolve this situation. Thank you!

Psychologist's Response:

First of all you as parents need to be patient and learn to motivate your child so that little by little he overcomes this problem. Although enuresis occurs less frequently at this age, it needs to be investigated and treated. In addition to using the alarm, there are other methods to help your child, have some urination training and some care, such as not letting him drink liquids before going to bed, avoiding products that contain caffeine, make him urinate before bedtime, and when he wakes up can help your son. Try to link this to the follow-up of a Psychologist or Psychiatrist to see how his or her emotional state is and follow up with some medication (see the doctor as necessary).
