At causes of bleeding can be by vaginal injury, of cervix or the maternal part of the placenta.
Vaginal bleeding can happen at all stages of gestation. The causes of bleeding may be different in each:
First trimester: implantation of pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, threat of abortion, uterine polyp or vaginal infection;
Second and third trimester (less common): uterine rupture, miscarriage (before 20 weeks), placental abruption, placenta previa or previous vasa.
In case of any bleeding during any time of pregnancy, seek the obstetrician, family physician or emergency service.
