Thrombocytosis, or high platelets, may not cause symptoms or nausea, vomiting, loss of spatial notion (labyrinthitis), and tingling in the extremities may occur.
Often does not require treatment and is temporary. In some cases, especially if the number of platelets is greater than 1,000,000 / mm3, the use of acetylsalicylic acid may be necessary because of the risk of thrombosis, and hydroxyurea, a cytoreductive agent (which decreases blood cell counts) .
There is no evidence that food is to be avoided or preferred or that other forms of treatment are beneficial.
The evaluation of the cause of thrombocytosis and whether there is a need for treatment should be made by the hematologist.
