During pregnancy, the microcephaly in the baby can be diagnosed by the Ultrasonography Obstetric. This examination may be requested by the doctor who is performing the prenatal, if necessary and indicated.
In general, the diagnosis of microcephaly is done by the pediatrician during the first physical exam after the birth of the baby. In first 24 hours after birth, the child is examined and his or her cephalic perimeter is measured. If this measure is less than 32 cm, the pediatrician will follow the necessary recommendations to investigate the reason for the change in that measure.
The most important is the performance of prenatal care appropriately with the visit to routine consultations, the examinations requested by the doctor and prevention of the disease caused by zika with use of repellents, avoid stagnant water and avoid contact with mosquito.
