The woman may have intercourse when she wishes, provided that it is protected. If she wants avoid pregnancy and is initiating the use of injectable contraceptive, it is recommended to use additional method of support, as the condom, during sexual intercourse in the first month after the first injection.
O contraceptive does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases (DST). Therefore, it is advisable to use condoms during all intercourse to prevent STDs.
After the first month of injecting contraceptive use, the medication already produces the contraceptive effect.
In general, when a woman is to start the injectable contraceptive method, she is recommended to give the first injection the first few days of menstruation. This is indicated to ensure that the woman is not pregnant and can thus start a contraceptive method.
When the woman already has regular use of another type of contraceptive method and will switch to the injectable, she can apply the injection seven days before stopping the old contraceptive.
At the start of injectable contraception (first injection), an additional contraceptive method (condom) should be used, especially in the first month and especially in cases where the injection was applied after the first seven days of menstruation.
