Dyshidrosis is a non-contagious skin disease, characterized by the formation of small blisters (vesicles) on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, which may or may not scratch. These vesicles usually rupture after a few days and there is scaling and crusting at the lesion site.

What are the symptoms of dyshidrosis?

  • Feeling of heat and itching at the sites of the lesions before the outbreaks;
  • Lesions can be painful if the site is cracked or infected;
  • It may or may not cause itching;
  • Subsequently, it is common to have scaling and crusting at the lesion site;
  • The nails may have the shape changed.

Most bouts of dyshidrosis disappears spontaneously after one to three weeks. The interval between outbreaks can last for weeks or months.

What causes dyshidrosis?

  • Allergy to any specific substance, medications or food;
  • Presence of fungi in any part of the body;
  • Emotional stress;
  • Associated diseases;
  • Unknown causes.

O treatment of dyshidrosis aims to relieve symptoms, prevent the onset of new infections and accelerate the healing process. The disease can be controlled by identifying and removing the triggering factors.
