What Causes Intermittent Explosive Disorder (ETI)?

Expert answer:

Blinking Explosive Disorder does not have a known cause. The development of the disorder is probably due to several factors, such as the environment in which the person grows and lives, genetic predisposition, serotonin malfunction, a substance responsible for the transmission of cerebral impulses, mental or personality disorders, Parkinson's disease, cerebral lesions traumatic, among other possible causes.

It is already known that there is a risk factors which may favor the development of Intermittent Explosive Disorder, such as drug or alcohol use, history of physical trauma or abuse in childhood, age (adolescence and between the ages of 20 and 30) and being a man, since the disorder is less common in women.

Alcohol

In many cases, Flashing Disorders can easily be triggered by alcohol consumption, even with few amounts of alcohol. It is called "pathological intoxication".

When this occurs, a person's personality changes suddenly when she drinks, making her almost unrecognizable. Next comes the fury and the aggressive attitudes against people or objects. In these cases, it is common for the individual not to remember very well what happened after the crisis.

For such people, the consumption of alcoholic beverages is totally contraindicated. However, the person with Explosive Personality Disorder is fully aware of their attitudes.

Even when she does not remember the facts clearly, what happens in pathological drunkenness, she has a perfect notion of the harmful effects that alcohol causes her and must therefore completely abolish her consumption.

Without treatment, the disorder can significantly impair the individual's life and bring about serious consequences.
