I started Diane 35 in the middle of the cycle, am I protected?

I took the pill Feminiane for 3 years and in April I stopped taking. I went to the doctor to do the exams and wanted to go back to take, the doctor prescribed me the pill Diane 35. I should take it again on the 1st day of my period, I had an escape and I thought I was menstruating and I started taking the pill, the next day that "Runny" stopped. I continue to take the pill, but would like to know if I am protected or should I use some other contraceptive method and until when?
