Ideally, you should not drink alcohol throughout the course of treatment with an antibiotic. In addition to the risk of less effective drug (by competition from alcohol metabolism with that of the drug in the liver) or extremely unpleasant side effects, alcohol can harm the immune system and the effective recovery of the infection being treated.
