Ordinance No. 1353 of 2011 of the Ministry of Health indicates the main causes of permanent and temporary disability for blood donation. Viral hepatitis after 11 years of age is on the list of final incapacity.
The exception is in cases of acute Hepatitis A infection, which must be proven with blood tests and evaluation of the hemotherapy service physician.
In other cases of hepatitis after 11 years of age the person is prevented from giving blood definitively.
