Pain in the spine, what can it be?

Expert answer:

Most of the pains in the spine are of muscular origin, that is, caused by some physical exertion done in an exaggerated or incorrect way. And this also includes sleeping in a bad way, carrying excessive weight (including your own weight in the case of obese people) and having a bad posture.

In some cases, however, it can be a sign of more serious illnesses, such as inflammation of bones, tendons, muscles and skin infections and even some cancers.

In general, improved posture, muscle stretching, and mild physical activity may help a lot in relieving symptoms, but it is always important that the person seek a doctor for a more detailed evaluation, especially in cases of pains that last a long time or that do not with common painkillers.
