A bluish liquid comes out of the sinus, what can it be?

Expert answer:

The discharge of a bluish fluid through the sinus may be a discharge caused by the taking of some medication, an infection, or the normal hormonal changes of the menstrual cycle, which can also cause pain, swelling, and appearance of sinus lumps. These signs and symptoms mostly occur in the pre-menstrual period and improve during menstruation.

It is also common to get a liquid from the breast during pregnancy, but this is not a sign of pregnancy. Although less common, papilloma, which is a benign lesion, and breast cancer can cause fluid out of the sinuses. In these cases, the liquid has a bloody or crystalline appearance as water, and only comes out of a nipple, spontaneously.

Some drugs that may cause liquids to pass through the sinuses: medicines for nausea, ulcer medicines, medicines for high blood pressure, menopausal hormone replacement medicines, oral contraceptives, anxiety and depression medicines, painkillers such as opioids and codeine, illegal drugs like cocaine and heroin.

The mastologist (breast specialist) should be consulted for examinations whenever there are doubts regarding the problems in the breasts.
