THE Penicillin it is a antibiotic which serves to treat various infections caused by bacteria.
Penicillin fights various types of bacteria including those that cause throat infection (pharyngitis, tonsillitis), ear (otitis), urine (cystitis), skin (erysipelas, etc), intestinal (salmonellosis, shigellosis), sinusitis, meningitis , pneumonia, rheumatic fever and systemic infections that affect the blood as a whole.
It is also used in the treatment of some sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as Syphilis and others and in the prevention of infective endocarditis (infection of the heart valves).
The best known penicillin is Benzetacil® (Penicillin Benzathine) which is used in the form of intramuscular injection usually in the buttocks. But there are other variations of penicillin such as crystalline Penicillin G, Penicillin Procaine, Ampicillin, Amoxicillin, Oxacillin, etc.
