They had been treated with corticosteroids for a month and they rose to 287,000. Only without the remedies the platelets after a month are lowering again. They are at 71,000. The hematologist said that if they continue lowering my daughter will have to remove the spleen because it is not recommended to do the treatment again because there are many side effects. Normal blood tests and diseases such as leukemia and others have proven normal. I wonder if there is only this alternative to remove the spleen so that it can improve.
The treatment is thus corticosteroids and when it does not respond the there is frequent return of the low platelets one should really do the splenectomy. There is the possibility of injecting corticosteroids into high dose pulses (it may work in some patients).
