Sarcoidosis is multisystem disease that can affect one or more organs.

This disease causes small nodules (granulomas) that may clump together and form larger nodules that end up interfering with the operation of a particular organ. O lung is the most commonly affected organ, but can affect other organs such as skin, nose, eyes, muscles, testicles, liver, heart, spleen, kidneys, intestines, lymph nodes, joints, etc.

The symptoms depend on the affected organ, and may be:

  • Cough;
  • Shortness of breath;
  • Chest pain;
  • Fatigue;
  • Weakness;
  • Weight loss;
  • Fever;
  • Skin rashes;
  • Vision changes;
  • Blindness;
  • Numbness or tingling;
  • Swelling and / or pain in the joints.

O treatment of sarcoidosis will depend on the organ / s involved and the symptoms presented by the patient. This may involve the use of some medications such as: corticoid, methotrexate, azathioprine, colchine, etc.
