No, sibutramine does not cause stomach cancer. The drug may cause other side effects like any medicine, but it would never be marketed if there were indications that its use could cause any type of cancer.
The most common side effects of sibutramine are:
- Dry mouth;
- Increased blood pressure;
- Headache;
- Constipation;
- Tachycardia (fast heartbeat);
- Insomnia.
Sibutramine can also increase the risk of cardiovascular diseasesuch as stroke and stroke, in people who already have high predisposition to develop these diseases.
